TREND Magazine Involvement
My last TREND shoot as Masculine Accessories Director before graduating in May 2022 was called 'Sweet Dreams,' a retro futurism photoshoot.
It’s about creating a dream-like and imaginative world that ties in aspects of chromatic dynamics from the 80s. It includes heavy graphics like layering images, digitization, nostalgic artwork, vintage props, and fantasy elements. Pulling inspiration from 80s icons (Billy Idol, Grace Jones, David Bowie, etc.) and major science fiction/fantasy films (Lord of the Rings, Narnia, TRON, The Matrix) to feature accessories like sunglasses, headpieces, wristwear, necklaces, rings, and earrings that are absurd and energetic. There will be bright and exaggerated makeup and hair along with vividly colored utopian inspired backgrounds. Inspired by the song, “Sweet Dreams,” by Eurythmics is a way to unwind and plugin into an alternate reality and let your imagination take over.

Spring 2022 - Masculine Accessories Director
While I was Director of Masculine Accessories, I held many responsibilities such as:
-
Communicating directly with the TREND executive team to create a cohesive final spread
-
Curated photoshoot concepts for the semester spreads that coordinated with the overall theme of each semester magazine
-
Lead a team of 10 creatives through weekly discussions concerning hair, makeup, editing, and styling while providing photoshoot direction
-
Worked on a strict deadline to produce a high quality shoot
The inspiration for our team's spread was the Nirvana song 'Come As You Are.' 'Offbeat As You Are' is when unusual hair colors, eccentric attitudes and unconventional jewelry are combined with chaotic backdrops and settings. It's about embracing randomness and going against typical rules or boundaries that an outdated society told us we couldn't cross.

Fall 2021 - Masculine Accessories Director
Spring 2021 - Beauty Committee Member
While on the Fashion Forecasting Committee, I created mood boards such as:
-
hair
-
makeup
-
poses
-
editing
We used these mood boards to plan the photoshoot and consulted with each other about what ideas or variations of ideas should be implemented in the shoot. We had weekly meetings that discussed our models and photoshoot inspiration.
My mood boards were inspired from the '90s party girls featuring iconic names like Naomi Campbell, Drew Barrymore, Kate Moss, and Devon Aoki. It was to represent the authentic, messy, bad girl whose moto was "Here for a good time, not a long time." It was an attitude of being carefree and having the ability to go wild especially after being in lockdown for a year due to COVID-19.
Fall 2020 - Fashion Forecasting Committee Member
While on the Fashion Forecasting Committee, I created mood boards such as:

We used these mood boards to plan the photoshoot and consulted with each other about what ideas or variations of ideas should be implemented in the shoot. We had weekly meetings that discussed our models and photoshoot inspiration and also had a couple fit nights where we put together the models' looks.
FUN FACT: The 'Godsmack' tee featured in our editorial is actually my Dad's old t-shirt from the '90s!
Fall 2018 - Editorial Committee Member
While on the Editorial Committee, I wrote two articles for the online issues of TREND magazine. My first article discussed an up and coming men's designer located in London named Sebastiaan Pieter Groenen. My second article was pitched by myself and was about the new shopping trend of finding clothes for your closet through Instagram thrifting accounts, Depop, Poshmark, etc. It was co-written and I covered the Instagram thrifting accounts section. I featured some local Instagram thrifting accounts, did a brief description of the apparel they sell and their price points, and interviewed the owners of those accounts as well.
We had weekly meetings that discussed future article ideas, planning who would write those articles, and met our deadlines in order for our editors to give us feedback on our pieces and make any neccesary changes to the article in order to have it ready for the monthly online TREND issues.
