AMD 210 Midterm

For our midterm we were given multiple scenarios to choose from and I chose Scenario 1 which was, "Women's Dresses for 2022. Theme is mixing prints and patterns with the collection." It involved creating a mood board to illustrate my design concept, color trends, fabrics/texture, print pattern trends, and original garment sample. We had to create 4 color chips, 2 patterns, one plaid or stripe with a twill or plain weave (I chose a plaid with a twill weave), and one garment - all in under 2 hours.
My inspiration came from Milan S/S 22 Fashion Week. Brands like MSGM and Valentino did a beautiful job channeling retro 1960s/70s patterns as well as incorporating the infamous mini dresses into their collections. I feel a mini dress is a great way to combine Y2K trends with timeless vintage fashion, that way it can be enjoyed for years to come and not just a few months. I chose the name because it's french for the French Riviera and thought it appropriately represented what the Spring and Summer seasons of 2022 could hold for us. Hopefully it brings us happiness, fun beach days, and magical summer nights.
