Summer 2020: Saylorville Lake Marina Apparel Merchandising Internship
I interned with the Saylorville Lake Marina for the 2020 Summer. It is located in Polk City, IA. I was able to gain skills over designing merchandise, planning social media strategies, work with vendors for getting new clothing and products for the summer season, receiving invoices and creating SKUs, barcodes, and labels.
Featured pictures are the merchandise I designed (second slide) and the visual displays I put together for our clothing vendors. I had to work on displays for our upper store and lower store. The lower store (last four pictures) was a very small space to work with but I created engaging displays and boosted our sales immensely in that location.
Summer 2019: Blond Genius Visual Merchandising Internship.
I interned with Blond Genius for the 2019 Summer. It is headquartered in Des Moines, IA but I assisted with one of their stores located in Okoboji, IA. I was able to gain skills over visual merchandising, analyze competitors, understand the customers wants and needs, as well as managing the store on my own. I managed the store by creating monthly schedules, delegating cleaning duties, planning the social media for the week, and creating looks for the annual Blond Genius fashion show: Brunch with the Queen. We got new merchandise weekly and had to make sure the store was always changing and looked new each week so recurring customers could see all the new merchandise in store.
Featured pictures are the displays I put together. I organized all of the jewelry in the showcase as well as straightened up the cash wrap. I organized the clothes by color such as pastels with pastels, bold and bright colors with each other, and then made sure they always followed the rainbow pattern. My main jobs were to make the store aesthetically pleasing and bring organization to the store, not just to help the customer but also to help ourselves.
